Not a pretty night

Ryan Pulock (Brandon Wheat Kings)
To say that Friday night was an ugly evening might be insulting to anything ugly as New York Ranger and New York Islander prospects saw their teams combine for a 4-7-1 evening (with 1 healthy scratch). From the 11 games involving skaters they combined for a 2-2-4 evening which again did not make for a pretty night.

Tonight's Star Ryan Pulock Brandon Wheat Kings

Going into Friday's matchup against the Everett Silvertips, Ryan Pulock (NYI 2013 1st) and his Brandon Wheat Kings had gone 0-4 on their swing through the WHL's US Division (5 game losing streak too) with some of the losses looking rather ugly. Brandon needed a spark against the Everett Silvertips and they got one from the Silvertips themselves in the form of a major penalty just 35 seconds into the game.

Pulock and his Wheat King teammates took advantage of the five minute major to score 3 goals as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead and earned a 6-3 win. Pulock scored Brandon's 2nd goal of the power play and game while adding a second assist on Brandon's 6th goal into an empty net to seal the win. The win ended Brandon's 5 game losing streak and the Wheat Kings have 1 last game Sunday on this road trip.

For Pulock the goal was his 5th on the season as he and his teammates scored 3 times in 2:41 on what turned out to be the only power play the Wheat Kings would game. 3 goals on just 1 power play is pretty good.

Pulock is now 5-7-12 on the season.

The Rest of the Prospects

Loic Leduc (NYI 2012 4th)
scored his 2nd goal of the season as his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defeated the Acadie-Bathurst Titans 4-1. Leduc scored the 3rd goal of the game for the Screaming Eagles as Leduc had gone 59 games over 3 seasons with out a goal now has 2 in his last 3 games.

Adam Tambellini (NYR 2013 3rd)
was scoreless as his 6th ranked North Dakota ??? lost to 8th ranked St. Cloud State Huskies 3-2. Tambellini was moved to center for this game and really did not show much. Tambellini at least in my eyes is way too skinny to be playing center at this point of this college career.

Doyle Somerby (NYI 2012 5th) was scoreless on 1 shot as his Boston University Terriers upset 3rd ranked Providence 4-3. Boston University rallied from down 3-0 after the 1st period with 4 unanswered goals to earn the win.

Ryan Graves (NYR 2013 4th) was scoreless on 4 shots as his Charlottetown Islanders lost to the Sherbrooke Phoenix 4-3 in the shootout. The Islanders changed their 3 game losing streak into a 4 game winless streak.

Cristoval Nieves (NYR 2012 2nd) was also scoreless on 4 shots but his 4th ranked Michigan Wolverines were able to defeat the Michigan Tech Huskies 3-2 in overtime. The better term for Michigan should be that they escaped with the win as the 5-1-1 Wolverines would have been embarrassed to lose to the 1-5-1 Huskies.

Kyle Burroughs (NYI 2013 7th) was scoreless as his Regina Pats got whipped 7-1 by the Prince Albert Raiders. The game was marred by a line brawl that saw both goalies ejected and the WHL will be coming to collect some fine money from both teams.

Victor Crus-Rydberg (NYI 2013 5th) had an assist for his 14th point of the season (3-11-14) but his Plymouth Whalers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Mississauga Steelheads. The Whalers dropped their 2nd straight and have fallen to 7-11 on the season.

Anthony Duclair (NYR 2013 3rd)
saw his 5 game scoring streak (7-4-11) come to an end as his Quebec Remparts were defeated by the Val-d'Or Foreurs 4-1. The loss also ends Quebec's 9 game unbeaten streak.

Junior Robbie Russo (NYI 2011 4th) and sophomore Steven Fogarty (NYR 2011 3rd) were both scoreless as their 2nd ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish lose to the Vermont Catamounts 2-1. Notre Dame was making their Hockey East debut but were unable to solve the Vermont defense.

Jesse Graham (NYI 2012 6th)
was scoreless as his Niagara IceDogs lost to the Barrie Colts 4-0. It was the 4th straight loss for the IceDogs who are now 3-5-0-2 in their last 10 games.

Stephon Williams (NYI 2013 4th)
gave up 4 goals on 20 shots as his Minnesota State Mavericks lost to the Bemidji State Tigers 4-1. Williams is now 2-3 with a 2.92 goals against and a 0.882 save percentage.

Eamon McAdam (NYI 2013 3rd) was a health scratch as his Penn State Nittany Lions defeated Robert Morri 5-4.

The Ads

I wish to apologize for those of you who have been "kidnapped" to see ads when visiting this spot. I have no control over it as it is a Blogger run ad which I do not receive anything for. If I could do something I would as I too get hit with these ads just trying to write this.
